Well-known Apex Legends leaker Shrugtal discovered a potential buff for Rampart in the battle royale game files, and if implemented, it would surely be a significant meta rework.

Since its introduction in Apex Legends Season 6, Rampart has struggled to make a meaningful impact on the battle royale meta.

Despite the strength and uniqueness of the Sheila Turret and her Amped Cover Barricades, their naturally defensive nature saw the Modder Amped constantly on the periphery. This continued into Season 12, where her pick rate is 1.5%, placing her 20th out of 20 legends.

However, following some Season 10 buffs, she could be set for a major boost if the leaked game files come to fruition.

Rampart’s Sheila Minigun and Amped Cover make it a defensive and fairly niche legend.

According to the veteran leaker Shrugtalseveral buffs for Rampart are present in the game files but haven’t quite made it to the most recent update.

If the leaker’s information is correct, the potential buff would improve just about every aspect of Rampart’s character, including significant improvements to his Amped Cover Tactical.

“Rampart buffs for Amped coverage in files that didn’t make the final cut and aren’t currently in-game,” he said, before outlining changes that could be made. Initial Building Health: 40 -> 120 Upper Shield Extension Delay: 0.25 -> 0.10 Front Shield Deployment Duration: 0.5 -> 0.3 Placement Delay: 0.5 -> 0.3″.

Some considered its release date – April 1st – to be indicative of a prank on Shrugtal’s part but, the corresponding game code being shareit appears to be in the game files and simply unreleased at the time of this article’s publication.

It’s unclear when – or if – Respawn intends to release the buff, but it would represent a major boost for one of BR’s most maligned characters.

Season 13 seems like a possible release date, expected in early-mid-May. Or maybe it’s all an April Fool’s joke and the joke is on us.
