Chelsea’s cruise past Malmö in the Champions League game at Stamford Bridge was anticipated by many.
Few would have guessed that the rainy terrain would cost the Blues a pair of forwards.
Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner limped off the pitch in London, with Chelsea having a 2-0 lead over goals from Andreas Christensen and Jorginho. They have since scored a third thanks to Kai Havertz.

The Blues may have to find more unusual scorers with Lukaku and Werner joining Christian Pulisic among the walking injuries.
Havertz replaced Lukaku in the 23rd minute and Callum Hudson-Odoi replaced Werner just before half-time. Both players are the most likely to see their playing time increase with injury, with youngsters Bryan Fiabema and Jude Soonsup-Bell on the outskirts of PL2.
Werner appeared to be injured in a sprint but left the pitch, while Lukaku was injured in the Malmö foul which earned Jorginho the penalty.
We’ll be sure to update this space with Thomas Tuchel’s post-match commentary as Chelsea prepare for a fairly forgiving schedule, albeit across three competitions: Norwich City, Southampton, Newcastle. Malmö, Burnley.
